“Boredom is death!” declared Lindsay “Coco” Hames, lead singer/songwriter for The Ettes. “You’ll never see us bored… or boring.” That’s for sure. They are demanding, they are sexy, and they are raw. Drawing inspiration from early punk and beat bands, such as the Stooges, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, as well as more melodic 60’s country acts such as Patsy Cline and Nancy Sinatra, The Ettes have developed a rock-and-roll sound all their own.
Founded in 2004 after moving west from NYC, Coco (vocals, guitar), Jem (bass) and Poni (drums, fashion) met up in Los Angeles and immediately struck up an explosive musical relationship that did not go unnoticed by radio stations such as KXLU, WFMU and sponsored shows in NYC by KCRW. Eventually the music surfaced from the underground and landed in the office of Indie 103.1.
Fresh off their tour with The Kings of Leon and The Black Keys, The Ettes release their 3rd album Do You Want Power on Take Root Records.
Recorded in their new hometown of Nashville, the album was completed in a marathon five-day session and finds the band putting song craft at the forefront without sacrificing their sonic assault.
